Description
A 3 cellmultinucelated embryo
Comment
The cleavage between the second [2 cell] and third cleavage [4 cell] stage usually involves the division of one blastomere before the other. Therefore a 3 cell embryo where one blastomere is the size of a 2 cell blastomere and the otehr 2 blastomeres are the size of a 4 cell blastomere should be considered normal if the timing is very early on day 2. Otherwise it may reflect a delay in division or arrest. The embryo should be checked 1-2 hours later for completion of the second cleavage phase. Of interest in this embryo is evidence of MULTINUCELATION in the delayed blastomere.
