IVFD Effect of Growth Hormone on Uterine Receptivity in Women With Repeated Implantation Failure in an Oocyte Donation Program: A Randomized Controlled Tri
Conclusion: Our data of improved implantation, pregnancy, and live birth rates among infertile RIF patients treated with GH indicate that GH improves uterine receptivity.

IVFD Live birth after Laser Assisted Viability Assessment (LAVA) to detect pentoxifylline resistant ejaculated immotile spermatozoa during ICSI in a couple
Laser assisted viability assay (LAVA) was performed by shooting the sperm tails during sperm retrieval for microinjection, following detection of pentoxifylline resistant immotile sperm. Live births of healthy triplets, one boy and two monozygotic girls, was achieved after double blastocyst transfer.

IVFD Freeze-dried spermatozoa: An alternative biobanking option for endangered species [Sheep].
In the present study, freeze-dried ram spermatozoa induced blastocyst development following ICSI at a relatively high proportion, providing evidence that sperm lyophilization is an alternative, low cost storage option for biodiversity preservation of domestic species.

IVFD Parental age and gene expression profiles in individual human blastocysts
Furthermore, the expression levels of certain genes critical for autophagy and embryonic growth, specifically GABARAPL1 and GABARAPL3, were negatively correlated with advanced paternal age. In addition, levels of transcripts derived from major satellite repeats also decreased as the maternal age increased. These results suggest that epigenetic modifications of the oocyte genome may change with parental age and be transmitted to the next generati

IVFD Can time-lapse parameters predict embryo ploidy? A systematic review
No single or combined morphokinetic parameter was consistently identified as predictive of embryo ploidy status. In conclusion, the available studies are too heterogeneous for firm conclusions to be drawn on the predictive value of time-lapse analysis for embryo aneuploidy screening. Hence, morphokinetic parameters should not be used yet as a surrogate for PGS to determine embryo ploidy in vitro.

Title
Can freeze-dried spermatozoa actually achieve fetilisation and embryo development.
Summary
In short, with the aid of oocyte activation the answer is possibly yes.
Comment
In this Italian study using spermatozoa from an endangered Italian sheep, sperm were freeze dried and then injected into sheep oocytes. With the additional step of ionomycin induced oocyte activation fertilisation and embryo development to the blastocyst was reported.//While this work needs to be repeated in human spermatozoa (one can imagine the ethical quagmire required to do this), the concept remains that it may be possible to store spermatozoa in a dried state (without LN2) forever and still recover functionality is somewhat remarkable. I may be getting ahead of myself but this may provide a tool for generational recovery in deep space travel or for a family's preservation of one of their males reproductive tissue independent of normal semen cryopreservation. It also may be that clinics in the future may be asked to achieve fertilisation using sperm stored in this way.//

Title
Can growth hormone (GH) improve the likelihood of pregnancy in older women?
Summary
For older women (>40) with previous unsuccessful treatment, GH may improve the endometrial capability and receptivity increasing the pregnancy and live birth rate.
Comment
Previous publications investigating the potential of GH to improve outcomes in older women who have previously be unable to achieve pregnancies, have found that GH may improve outcomes by improving oocyte (and hence embryo) viability. Improved outcomes in frozen embryo cycles clearly pointed to an oocyte process.// However, this paper by Spanish researchers in the Journal of the Endocrine Society argues quite effectively that GH may also act on the endometrium. Using donor oocytes and recipient women exposed to GH during the E2 phase of HRT stimulation, their results demonstrate that the GH exposed clients had a thicker endometrium and more implantations and live births that those without GH treatment (51% x 17%).// While this study needs to be repeated, the addition of GH to older women undergoing HRT prior to embryo transfer and well prove to be an easy inclusion in any FET treatment protocol for older women. It also provides a different insight into the problems of reduced fertility with increasing age from an alternative approach of uterine receptivity rather than purely oocyte viability. //
